Both routes from Hyderabad to Chikmagalur pass through NH 44. Driving through NH 44 is a delightful experience with good road conditions and decent traffic.
1. Hyderabad To Chikmagalur Via Kurnool, Anantapur, And Hiryur
If you take the route via Anantapur, you will face hassles while driving through the single lane as the road condition is bad here until you find NH-150A.
In other words, passing through the small villages here will take a lot of your time, and you will hardly find an eatery to stop by, even if you feel very hungry.
Nevertheless, as you reach NH-150A, the mountains will start appearing before your eyes from a distance.
After you leave NH-150A, you will take the single-lane highway of SH-173 to reach Chikmagalur via Kadur. Then, you have to drive through hilly roads to reach your accommodation in Chikmagalur.
2. Hyderabad To Chikmagalur Via Kurnool, Allur, Bellary, And Hiryur
Here, you will first travel to Kurnool, taking the NH-44. Then, you have to take the Bellary Bypass to reach Bellary.
Next, you will take NH-150A to Hirpur, and you will continue driving on SH-173 to reach Chikmagalur. This entire route ensures a smoother and more seamless journey.
